Full Credit to Telstra!

Hi Folks

I sent an email to Telstra providing feedback on their 3Rs of Social Media Engagement

Here is the text of the reply sent by their CEO, David Thodey. We are all learning in this space and it is great to see a large organisation like Telstra expecting policy to evolve and develop as they learn more. This certainly is a great reference for everyone.

Congrats… Continue

Telstra's 3Rs of Social Media

Telstra has released its Social Media Policy

As much as Telstra is the company many people love to hate the simplicity of this document is great to see. More than that, however, is the training package they have put together. Take a look.

Simple, effective and… Continue

Nicholas Gruen on Innovation and Gov 2.0

Hi Folks

Nicholas's comments on this topic are very thought provoking. Visit the Gov 2.0 Taskforce and have a read.

In particular, the reference to web 2.0 tools being used as broadcast tools a la Web 1.0 is very telling. I am interested in this as the mindset that is tending to persist is that these tools are simply channels. Follow that logic and these channels can be… Continue

Social Media can be Fun!

Hi Folks

I could not stop myself! As many of us know there are lots of doubters and blockers out there who just don't to get the Gov 2.0, social media etc thing.

A picture - especially one of those moving ones - is worth a thousand words. On that note I'll shut up so you can view this.

Conceptually this is fantastic at a number of levels. A 5 Star movie. Oh to do a Gov 2.0 version.

Public Service Culture

Hot on the heals of the Gov 2.0 Taskforce Report the Canberra Times has published a piece indicating the culture of the public service is stifling creativity.

The fact that this message is coming from quite a few sources suggests that this is a real problem. That being said, it has to be acknowledged… Continue

Competencies of Gov 2.0 Leaders

Andrew Krzmarzick has put together a thought provoking presentation on Gov 2.0 Leadership

Given that leadership can reside everywhere, especially in the social media world, I suggest that these ideas are something that apply to us all.

Head on over to… Continue

From the horses mouth

Hi fellow OZloopers

A good colleague of mine drew my attention to a submission made to Prime Minister and Cabinet that provides a Gen Y Perspective on the Australian Public Service.

It is very well written indeed and captures how the public service needs to change.

Well worth reading and thinking about.
