The best way of organising information to help decision making

IMHO, Government 2.0 is or should be about using Web 2.0 technologies, and the collective intelligence of the general public to help make decisions which will (over the long term) increase the average personal happiness of the people in a given jurisdiction.   Do you agree?

But how best to capture the collective intelligence of a community to make it readily available when it is needed?

I believe that an encyclopedic knowledge base is the best way to make pertinent information…

Hi Eddy

Yes, hopefully I will be able to continue working within a local government role when I return. Thanks for the link i will check it out. It sounds similar to a project that I'm currently working on called the Knowledge hub. A new online collaboration/innovation space for all public services. www.local.gov.uk/knowledgehub

Thanks again

Charlotte

Hi Wayne - Thanks for doing that.

Completely agree with the Wiki idea. After all, the AGIMO blog has been launched a little while back and is available to everyone.

I suspect there are two problems to be dealt with. Overcoming organisational silos and a perception that it would be just to big to take on. I think one way to start could be to find out which agencies already have a wiki operating behind their firewall, get them into the outside world and then either consolidate them or, easier still, sit them behind a web page on gov.au or wherever.

Cheers

Steve
